Students wanting to ask the Instructor a question first select the 'Instructor' Tab provided in the Chat window as shown in Figure 2.6.2.1.a.

The question being asked is then input into the provided text area and any formatting, if necessary, can be done using the toolbar features. Figure 2.6.2.1.b. shows a question that is ready to be sent to the Instructor.

Pressing 'Enter' after the question is ready to be sent sends the question to the instructor as shown in Figure 2.6.2.1.c.

After the question is sent to the instructor, the student enters the question queue automatically. The student can see a number appear in the 'Question Queue Status Indicator' before his name as shown in Figure 2.6.2.1d. This number represents the position of the student in the question queue. He can also view the question queue status for the rest of the class in the 'Question Queue Column'. As the student moves up the queue, the number decreases. When the number is '1', the student's question is addressed by the Instructor.

If the student needs to explain his question by "drawing" on the lecture slides, he can request access to the public Snapshot while he is in the question queue. The details of accessing the public Snapshot are in Section 2.6.2.3.
