To save a lecture, the user (instructor or student) presses File->Save As... (or if a saved file already exists, File->Save). A standard "Save File" dialog will appear and the user saves the file to the desired location.
E-Class saves lectures in a special file format simply called EClass (.eclass). This file type essentially contains a zipped file structure (similar to the Open XML Files created by Microsoft Office 2007). Inside the file are the following components:
File/Directory | Purpose |
---|---|
EClassHTML (.ehtml) | Contains the lecture content (broken into slides, each with number tags). This file can be rendered in any standard web browser. |
Images (directory) | Contains the vector-based images (each in its own file) that represent the layers on each slide. |
Image Map (file) | This file associates the images with the slides and layers with their appropriate location relative to the content. |
Chat Log (file) | Contains the entire chat from the lecture session. |
Question Log (file) | Contains the list of questions asked during the lecture. |
