The Grader Tool will be designed primarily for the Cal Poly Computer Science Department but will also be useful to the rest of the Cal Poly campus, other universities, and lastly, anyone else. The setting for which it is appropriately suited is an educational environment of some form, where a professor will maintain his/her class grades and students can check their grades online. The professor will have an option to allow his/her students to see all of the grades in the class without showing the names and IDs so the student can get an idea of where they are in the class.

A new installation of The Grader Tool does not require an existing system, but it has been designed to automatically import and maintain the class roster from SIS at Cal Poly. Installing The Grader Tool outside of Cal Poly does not mean it will not function, it simply means the professor will have to enter students by hand.
