Personal and widely used commercial systems that provide functionality comparable to the Scheduler include:

• Mimosa
• Visual Classroom Scheduler
• ResSched
• Tablix
• Cal Poly CSC Scheduling Tool (aka Hitchner’s Mind)

Each of these systems provides a wide variety scheduling functionality. In terms of such functionality, the goal for the Scheduler is to provide the important core features found in these tools. The Scheduler provides functionality for operating at a university level and emphasizes the following:

1. The capability to allow individual professors to manage time and day preferences for teaching courses.
2. The capability for the schedule administrator to verify professor preferences and generate a course schedule.
3. The capability for students to view current schedules to assist in academic planning
