There are a few main operational settings for a scheduling tool: (1) use by CSC faculty to schedule quarters at Cal Poly; (2) use by other Cal Poly departments; (3) distribution to other schools and organizations.
The scheduling tool is designed for whoever is assigned the task of scheduling resources in a school environment, specifically Professor Haungs in the CSC department at Cal Poly. In a narrow sense, this scheduler is intended for his computer or any other future schedulers in the CSC department.
This software is intended to be on a private or shared host computer within the department of its choosing, where the databases are contained locally. Additionally, teachers are able to edit preferences and view schedules from their own personal computers. Students also have viewing rights from their personal computers.
The other potential operational setting is in the commercial sense.
This scheduling application is appropriate for other education based
faculties as well. The specific operational setting there would
likely be the same: a personal computer of a schedule administrator.
