1.5.2. Test Generator II
Test Generator II is a product released in 2001 intended for use on Windows computers. The purpose of the product is to
generate and administer tests. The program comes with a test generation program
for use by intstructors as well as the test taking client for use by students.
Both require a log in for security. Test Generator II allows for creating local
question databases sorted by class and subjects. This program will generate
tests for the instructor by selecting random questions from subjects that the
instructor defines. An instructor my also manually create a test by adding
questions one at a time. Test Generator II will also automatically grade tests
for the instructor and allows the instructor to grade the essay questions
manually. The following is a look at the good, bad, and missing features of
Test Generator II:
Good Features:
- Allows for use over LAN
- Has log in for security
- Keeps test question database
- Automatically grades questions and allows for manual grading of essays.
- Generates “report cards”
- Good organization of class and questions by subject
- Test taker has allows for questions to be flagged
- Allows printing of hardcopy + hardcopy key
Bad Features:
- Navigation is very complicated
- Window management is poor
- Test generation wizard only allows random question choosing, there are no question filters
- Adding a question is complicated
- Editing a test is complicated
- Rather than pop-up dialogs all work is done in the main window
- Test taker has poor layout
Missing Features
- A timer on the test taker
- Teacher call button on test taker
- Question searching and filtering
- Question information (difficulty, time….)
- Last used date for test questions
