2.3.1.1 Adding Multiple Choice

This scenario shows a teacher adding a Multiple Choice questions to the question database. In this scenario, we will assume the user is a teacher who has opened the Test Tool, and has not entered any questions in the question database. The teacher has an empty question database.

To add a question to the database, the teacher selects the 'Add Question' command in the 'Repository' menu as shown in Figure 1. In response, the system displays the dialog shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2 shows the 'Add Question' dialog box  that contains a number of data entry fields for the components of a question. The 'Class' field is a one line string that describes for which class the question is intended. The 'Length' field specifies how many minutes the teacher expects the question to last. 'The Keywords' field is a comma delimited list that the teacher uses to identify the question. The 'Author' field is set by default to be the teacher's computer. The 'Date Last Used' field identifies when the teacher last used the question. The 'Difficulty' field defines how difficult the question is. It can be :

The 'Class Week'  field specifies which week the teacher intends the question to be used in. If no week is specified the default value is "Any." The question type specifies what type of question the teacher wants. It can be:

The 'Question' field specifies what question text the teacher wants to add to the question. The 'Import Question From File' button allows the teacher to specify an html file to import a question from. The 'Answer' field for multiple choice allows the teacher to specify the answer to a question. The 'Add Choice' and 'Remove Choice' buttons allows the teacher to add or remove answer choices from the multiple choice question.

After the system displays the dialog, the teacher chooses "Multiple Choice" as shown in Figure 2.

The teacher fills in the information by a combination of typing and selecting from pre-defined choices in Figure 3. The teacher chooses the "CSC 101" 'Class'. Then the teacher chooses a 'Length', 'Keywords', 'Date last used', 'Difficulty' and 'Class Week'.

Then,  the teacher enters a question in the 'Question' field. Finally, the teacher fills out three answer choices and chooses "Infinite Number" as the correct answer.

The teacher clicks the 'Allow Matching' radio button and the system changes the radio button answers to checkboxes as shown in Figure 4. The teacher then decides no un-check the 'Allow Matching' radio button. Then the teacher clicks 'OK' and the system adds the question to the question database.
