1.5.3 Test Creator
Test Creator provides three versions including two for use in networked
classrooms or for administering tests over the Internet. The interface is
uninviting and buggy but the statistical and security features of make this a
functional tool that would be useful in real-world settings. It's best suited
for use in elementary or middle schools or for any subject not requiring
advanced features.
Good Features
- Includes foreign language and mathematical symbol support on top of basic
question features
- Supports embedded text and graphics
- Produces printable tests and answer overlays
- Randomizes order of questions and answers as "copycat protection"
- Searchable database
- Support for distribution over LAN or internet
- Security features like dual-login prevent cheating
- Statistical output is very useful for teachers
- Provides two testing modes: Practice and Actual
- Gives students instant feedback during testing
Bad Features
- Interface is unattractive and buggy
- Web based tests are also ugly
- Limited mathematical features
- Crashes easily
Missing Features
- Miles away from supporting anything as sophisticated as IDE integration,
code analysis, or drawing.
- Test creation has limited configuration options, although you can apply
time limits and optionally show correct answers.
- No sections or groupings
- Questions aren't categorizable. Very simplistic database.
- No autosave feature
- Doesn't provide anonymity when grading
