Before the user can present the lecture, the user must first load it into EClass. When the user selects "File→Open..." from the menubar, a dialog box appears prompting for the location of the lecture as shown in Figure 2.3.1a. Only eHTML files are valid files, and as such, only they can be opened.

The "File Open" dialog box that appears is the standard, native one on the operating system running the EClass application. Thus if EClass ran on a Windows machine, the dialog box that appears is very similar to the one in Figure 2.3.1a. Whereas if EClass ran on an OSX machine, the dialog box that appears has more of an aqua feel to it.
If a valid eHTML file is opened, the presentation window automatically displays the lecture in slide mode. Students in the classroom can now view the presentation.
