3.1 System Performance
E-Class should perform effectively instantaneously for the following actions:
- send a chat message
- make drawing layer public
- drawing tools (i.e. drawing a line)
- instructor changing a student's settings
Some actions will take slightly longer (on the order of a few seconds):
- server to client push of the presentation (file load)
- save a file to disk
- Network lag and timeouts are acceptable
These time estimates are valid for the following reasonable size expectations:
- hundreds of slides (hopefully < 100 for a normal lecture)
- tens of layers per slide
- tens of drawing objects per layer
- No large data sets to process
