The students' side of instructor/student interaction is done through the communication toolbar. The communication toolbar has three main functions (from left to right):

Raise Hand: Button launches the question asking dialog and alerts the instructor that a student would like to ask a question.
Comprehension Level: Color chooser that indicates to the instructor how well the student is understanding the material.
Volume: Shows a sliding bar with which students can adjust audio volume, if the instructor is using a microphone.
