1. Introduction

This document defines requirements for the Grader. The program provides teachers the ability to record and view grades. Teachers can use the Grader to manage grades privately, with a variety of customizable options for any style of grading. To enter grades the teacher will use a standard spreadsheet with various options on how to manage assignments and categories of assignments. The teacher can set curves, weights, and manage late policies with assignments in this way. The teacher also has various ways to view trends of classes with histograms, pie-charts, and other graphic elements which can all be manipulated to affect the grade distribution.

Students also have access to grades should the teacher choose. Students can view their personal grades on a secure system once the teacher uploads the grades. The students can also view past trends of teachers' classes, seeing if other students generally have success in a teacher's class. The teacher can also allow the student to view grade distributions on the overall class and individual assignments or tests.
