1.5.5. Class Action Gradebook
Class Action Gradebook is designed to meet the unique needs of instructors at
every level of education. The basic view involves a spreadsheet with the class
roster and assignments which allows the instructor to update grades quickly.
Graphs and charts of the assignments and final grade are also available in
order to better show the distribution of scores. However, these graphs open in
the same window and block the spreadsheet view.
Instructors can upload grades to the web but it will not interface with the
system used by their institution. The instructor must register an account with
Class Action's servers for this ability. This is the only method through which
students may view grades.
Good Features:
-
Spreadsheet for grades is easy to edit and view
-
Switching between assignment viewing is quick and easy
(points/percentages/letter grades)
-
Stores contact info which allows for easy emailing
-
Many print options for student reports, assignments and more
-
Adding, editing, and deleting assignments is very simple
-
Ability to drop lowest scores in each section (quizzes/assignments etc.)
Bad Features:
-
Viewing graphs requires a full screen (they don't open in a new window so you
can't continue viewing the grades in the spreadsheet)
-
Removing assignments is not intuitive and can be risky
-
"What if?" function does not work well or at all
-
Changing the grading scale is not visual
-
Sorting is more complicated than clicking on the column to be sorted
-
Uploading grades to the web requires the use of their servers
Missing Features:
-
Download/update of class roster
-
Cannot easily backup class data
-
System to hand back graded materials
-
Color system for assignment scores and final grade
-
+/-/check grading for assignments
-
