2.1.2. Instructor Interface Overview
In order to generate schedules that are fair The Scheduler must have information on the courses and times which an instructor prefers to teach. The Instructor menu, shown in Figure 2.2.1-1, contains commands for an instructor to edit their preferences.

The 'Instructor Edit Time Preferences' command opens the Instructor Preferences window to the Time tab. The user selects which time slots during which they want to teach, do not want to teach, and can not teach using this window tab. The 'Instructor Edit Course Preferences' command opens the Instructor Preferences window to the Courses tab. The user selects their willingness to teach a course using this window tab. The 'Instructor View Instructor Data' command opens an Instructor Data window which the user can use to select and view an instructor's personal information (e.g. name, office phone number, office number, etc.). The 'Instructor Commit Preferences' saves the current instructor preferences to a database selected in the pop up window. An instructor log in name and password valid on the selected database are required to commit preferences to that database.
Note: Instructors have read-only access to the Scheduling menu.
