The Scheduler Tool is designed to organize the time, location, and instructor for school courses. The setting for which this version of the Scheduler Tool will be primarily intended for the Computer Science department of Cal Poly State University. However, it is a general software system that can also be used in other departments of a school.
The Cal Poly Computer Science department currently
uses general purpose word processing and
spreadsheet tools, but no tool specifically designed for scheduling.
There are staff members and faculty who has a general idea of what course to
match up with which professor, and at what time. He then gives this list to
the school administration office to assign rooms. After the implementation of
the Scheduler Tool, scheduling will become an automated process taking into
consideration department constraints and preferences. The person using the
tool will be able to finalize and manually override areas if necessary.
