2.4 Test Taking

This section covers the different scenario a student can take a test. The student program and instructor program are separate entities. The student opens a different program to take their test. There are 3 different scenarios where a student takes a test: (1) In-class preconfigured room where every student have a computer with the required applications already installed and a proctor who has the ability to change the time when the test starts and finishes, (2) a take-home test where the student installs the required software on a computer and connect to the server at home and takes a test, and (3) a practice test where the student installs the required software to login to get the test and take it.

For all three scenarios the student takes the test by logging into a secure server to retrieve the test. The proctored test is in a preconfigured room that meets the needs of a test taking environment. The ideal environment is a classroom set aside with multiple computers with the Test tool software installed prior to giving a test. The take-home test and the practice test both, need the student to install software to login to take a test. The difference between a practice test and a take-home test is that, for a practice test the student is given a username and password that the instructor picked, and the practice test scores are not sent back to the server to be recorded.
