Search Availability

To search the listings of available hotel rooms, the tourist information center staff must enter a date and the length of the stay that the tourist needs. The other search options are optional, and help narrow down the results. Figure 1 shows a search that the user has performed. The user has entered a search date of June 15 with a duration of 1 night.

After reviewing these results, the tourist decides to stay at the Seacliff Inn Best Western. To confirm the reservation, the user selects the desired listing in the table and clicks on "Confirm Booking". This brings up the dialog in Figure 2. Here the user is given information about the reservation they are about to make, and is asked to call the hotel to confirm.

After confirming the reservation, the user is given a confirmation message as shown in Figure 3. The database of listings is also updated to reflect one less room being available. The confirmation message includes the dates the tourist has agreed to stay, the price, and information about the hotel. This message also includes a small map to the hotel and a field for the user to enter any notes for the tourist. The map is implemented with the Google Maps API, which allows the user to zoom in and out and move the location. This message may be printed so the tourist has a copy of the information.
