There are already programs which have functionality similar to the TestTool, including:

• Atrixware TestPro Enterprise Edition
• EduSoft
• ExamView
• Discovery Quiz Center
• Blackboard Test Generator (no URL link available; accessible through MyCalPoly)

These programs all have many features and merits. Our TestTool program takes the best and most important features of these programs, and adds a few improvements.

1. Ability to launch an IDE from the test program
2. Ability to grade code-type answers
3. Ability to specify a length expected for each question (to be used in generating a test of X length)

The goals for the TestTool relating to public domain source code and sound pedagogical development are not met by any of the above commercial systems.
