2.7.4. Course Preferences

Under course preferences an instructor can mark which courses he or she is unable to teach by setting their rating to zero, and he or she can rate how much he or she would like to teach the other courses by rating them with a score between 1 and 5, with 5 being a strong desire to teach that course.  The instructor's master schedule preferences may also be edited here, or simply left alone and used as a reference.  If the instructor selects to edit the master schedule preferences only from the Home page, the interface would appear very similar, but without the Spring 2004 column. The list of courses is taken from the list of courses in the application itself.  The resource columns are derived from the list of available resources for all rooms specified in the classrooms section of the main application. This page is the instructor's version of the Course Preferences tab in the Edit Instructor window of the main application.  The page is shown in Figure 2.7.4-1 as it would appear to the instructor before he has made any changes.

The instructor would check which resources he or she would like for each course using the 'Resources' columns.  Figure 2.7.4-2 shows a filled in window.

The instructor may check resources for courses which he or she has rated with a "0" for teaching ability.  These preferences will be saved so that if the instructor changes the rating later, his or her resource preferences are already defined.  After clicking submit the instructor will be forwarded on to the Day Preferences page.
